Orochi
My name is Orochi, and I’m a herbal tea blender. I create blends inspired by the principles of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements — a traditional Eastern philosophy that understands the world through balance and natural flow. Rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, it teaches that everything consists of two complementary forces, yin and yang, and five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.

When these are in harmony, we feel well; when they fall out of balance, our physical and emotional wellbeing can be affected.
I first encountered this philosophy during a time when I felt out of balance myself. Seasonal changes affected my body and mood more than I understood. Learning to align my lifestyle — including what I ate and drank — with the rhythm of nature made a meaningful difference.
One simple, nurturing ritual was herbal tea. Choosing herbs based on how I felt or what the season called for became a gentle way to reconnect with myself. It was small, but surprisingly transformative.

This led me to wonder: what if everyone could have a tea blend that truly supported their unique body, mind, and state of being? That question inspired my journey to becoming a herbal tea blender.

My brand name, orochi, is inspired by Yamata no Orochi, the mythical eight-headed serpent of Japanese legend. While the name may sound mysterious, to me it symbolises the power of nature, the beauty of diversity, and the strength that comes from embracing all parts of ourselves.

Through thoughtful conversation and attentive listening, I create personalised blends shaped around where you are now — and where you wish to be. Whether you seek calm, clarity, energy, or a moment of warmth, I hope my teas offer a small pause to ground yourself and reconnect.

Nice to meet you — I’m Shiro, a herbal tea blender.
When people think of herbal tea, they often imagine something sour, grassy, or difficult to enjoy. That was my impression too when I first tried it as a young adult. I was health-conscious and often bought herbal teas from lifestyle shops and supermarkets, but I secretly preferred black tea and eventually stopped drinking herbal blends altogether.

Everything changed when a friend introduced me to someone who created personalised herbal tea blends. The tea they made for me was smooth, flavourful, and surprisingly delicious. They asked questions such as:

• What flavours do you enjoy?
• When would you like to drink it?
• What colours and moods do you like?
• How are you feeling today?

Through conversation, they crafted a custom blend just for me — and the experience was exciting, comforting, and inspiring. A single cup of uniquely blended tea could lift my mood, help me relax, or give me a small moment of joy in my day.
That’s when I realised: herbal tea should taste good as well as be good for you. This belief inspired me to become a herbal tea blender myself.

My brand name, shiro, means “white” in Japanese. I chose it because white represents a blank canvas — colourless until someone’s unique personality, preferences, and feelings bring it to life. My aim is to create blends that truly reflect each individual.
I am still growing and learning, but my hope is to share comfort, warmth, and a little happiness through every cup.
